When Will The UFC Return To Montreal?

GSP Training

I’m sure Montreal locals are scratching their heads right now wondering about the next UFC event that will take place at the Bell Centre. Over a year has passed since the last one happened that featured a welterweight championship bout between Georges St. Pierre and Johny Hendricks. I’m assuming Montreal is due for a killer fight card very soon, but how soon still remains in question.

One of the main reasons the UFC hasn’t returned to Montreal is because of an obvious one, the organization’s top fighter has retired. GSP, the former 3-time Welterweight Champion of the UFC announced his retirement shortly after UFC 167. Since then there hasn’t been much talk about a Montreal fight card other than the one scheduled for Dec. 6th on pay-per-view.

However, a small new update on the UFC event in Montreal broke out this morning shortly after the post-fight presser for UFN 43. Tom Wright, UFC’s managing director of operations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, revealed that the next Montreal event will “most likely” be delayed to March 2015. Which also means a specific date nor a headliner is set in stone yet.

Apparently, the Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson rematch isn’t booked for a city, so this could be an option Wright decides to go with in the near future, but it still remains up in the air.
