Vicki Francia is a Denver-based alternative bombshell who has a passion for hooking up with big clothing companies and creating gorgeous images. When she’s not rocking out photoshoots for brands like Yakuza Clothing, Ink Addict, Black Market Art, 7th Revolution, Timber Threads, and Monark, she’s busy gracing the pages of INKED Magazine and InkSpired Magazine! I had the chance to chat with this alternative sweetheart and here’s what she had to say about her modeling, her ink, her passions, and what is in store for 2014.
Can you introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey, my name is Vicki Francia. I am an internationally published alternative model!
Where are you currently based?
Denver Colorado.
When did you start modeling and what was it that made you want to do it?
I started modeling when I was 15. Back in the day my friends and family always told me that I should get into the modeling. The thought of modeling never crossed my mind; I was too busy riding dirt bikes and going to local shows. So my parents put me into a modeling school and I have been modeling ever since!
To be a successful model requires lots of stuff, perhaps a gorgeous face, hot body, and lots of time and nerves to get the name out? What’s been your secret?
Honestly, I still get nervous for certain shoots, but once I’m in front of the camera I switch into sexy mode and rock the shit out of every shoot! As for the “secret” — confidence!
What was the hardest part about getting into the business?
The hardest part is trying to be different. You have to have something that makes you stand out.
What drew you into the alternative scene and what inspires you to this day?
I think art is sexy and if you are a hot chick with amazing art on your body, you automatically inspire me.
What would you say gives the most feminine note in your look?
I would say curves and long, dark hair. Don’t you think?
I’m pretty sure that you are very creative person; do you give some ideas to your photographers about a photoshoot (the creative part) or do you keep it professional and follow their vision?
Sometimes, if I can get my creative juices flowing, I can be creative! But I would have to give my creative credit to my photographers!
What is your favorite genre of fashion? Why?
I think I am into the dark punk/goth/rock fashion because it’s different and not your everyday mall bullshit.
I’ve noticed lots of cool ink on your body. When did you get your first tattoo and what was it?
I was a good girl and waited until my 18th birthday to get my first tattoo. It is the Serenity prayer on my left ribcage!
What’s your next piece of ink going to be?
I want a traditional pig tattoo. Pigs are my favorite animals.
Do you have any go-to artists you want to shout out to?
Damon Hacker located in Rush, New York, at Surreal Studios and Nik Pew located in Denver, Colorado, at Landmark Tattoos.
Would you consider tattooing as a way of self-expression?
Absolutely.
What has being a tattooed woman taught you: about society, yourself, and the idea of beauty?
People think tattoos are trashy (I think they can be if they are not done by a real artist). But beauty is a form of self-expression, whether it be natural or modified. I feel if society can’t accept the fact that this is how alternative people look, then they should keep their mouths shut. My generation rocks and I’m sorry your boring!
Tell me about some of your publications/credits.
I’ve been in INKED magazine, Inkspired magazine, and Inked Dolls magazine. I’ve modeled for international clothing lines such as Yakuza clothing, Inkaddict, Black Market Art, 7th Revolution, as well as local Denver clothing lines like Timer Threads and Monark.
What are some of your other loves and hobbies outside professional alternative modeling?
I currently work in the Medical field as a medical assistant I enjoy helping others. My hobby (don’t laugh) is crocheting I crochet almost 24/7. Nerdy, I know, but I LOVE IT!
What’s your best motivational lesson for the beginners?
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE HATERS! There will always be negative people out there, but you cannot let them try to bring you down. If anything, smile and wave because you are doing something right!
Do you have any big plans for 2014?
Big move to Boston!
