September is here and, in addition to going back to school and choosing to game instead of doing homework, that means that the Christmas rush is getting very near. September sees a number of great video game titles being released, and there’s something for everyone, from first-person shooter to role-playing to strategy, and from PlayStation to Xbox to handheld. It’s a good month. Check out our list of some titles to seriously consider.

The Diablo franchise made an unholy return to PC gaming last year with Diablo III. Now, for the first time in Diablo history, Diablo III is available to console gamers as it comes to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There are also plans to bring Diablo III to PS4 in the future.
No doubt pissing off PC loyalists, is the fact that the console release gets exclusive loot, improved gameplay, updated skills, and new animations.

The Creative Assembly brings even more war to your PC with the sequel to 2004’s Rome: Total War. Obviously, as a strategy game, Total War: Rome II gives you customizable command of a world-dominating Roman army. The new game runs on a new graphics engine and features vast multiplayer options.
September 4
Outlast
Platform: PC (PS4 TBA)
Red Barrels Games is the new kid on the block, but considering the new developer has drawn talents associated with the Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed, and Splinter Cell franchises, we have faith in their skills. Their debut game is Outlast, which is a psychological survival horror download.
The official synopsis from Red Barrels:
In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the ‘research and charity’ branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.
Acting on a tip from an inside source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature, and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.
Elder Scrolls Anthology
Platform: PC
Buy it at Amazon: PC (Physical)
Really, the Elder Scrolls Anthology is for hardcore fans and collectors. What else are you going to do with all five games from the series and all official expansions? Play them, of course! And what are you going to do with five poster maps of Tamriel, Lliac Bay, Morrowind, Cyrodiil, and Skyrim? Put them on your parents’ basement walls, of course!
Killzone: Mercenary
Platform: PS Vita
Buy it at Amazon: PS Vita
From Guerrilla Cambridge comes Killzone: Mercenary, the second handheld title in the Killzone franchise. In addition to the single-player campaign, this first-person shooter will offer a huge multiplayer component.
The events of Killzone: Mercenary will pick up where the original Killzone left off, putting players in control of mercenary Arron Danner. Danner is a former UCA-soldier who has no qualms about taking on paid contracts from the ISA as well as the Helghast.
When a seemingly routine mission to evacuate the Vektan Ambassador and his family in Pyrrhus goes awry, Danner learns that war’s outcome could depend on the Ambassador’s young son’s fate. With both sides going through increasingly desperate lengths to get hold of the boy, Danner starts wondering if the price of victory is really worth the paycheck.
There are plenty more September video game titles to look forward to after the jump…
