The X-Files (1993–2002) is among the best series to ever run on television… I mean, they don’t usually bring television shows to the big screen if they suck.
As to be expected, when it was announced last summer that there was a possibility that the show could be headed for a reboot, we were all mildly excited. How excited could we get if David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Chris Carter weren’t on board?
Well, as Deadline is reporting, Fox TV Group Chairman Dana Walden said that the conversations so far have been only logistical, seeing just when they can get everyone on board (i.e., Duchovny, Anderson, and Carter). So, it’s been confirmed that Duchovny and Anderson are a go, but viewer beware, a new X-Files will likely be for a one-off season. And, while the actors we want to see have agreed, the project is still unconfirmed.
With the current popularity of television series, it makes perfect sense to bring back a beloved classic like The X-Files. And what better way to catch everyone’s attention with a one-off season? I suspect, however, that if the show were to be massively successful that the network would order up another one or two or three or…
