On Sunday, January 24th (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/7:00-8:00 p.m. PT) The X-Files will be re-opened for a six-part miniseries. Helping to build some additional anticipation and excitement, FOX has released a 21-minute preview/behind-the-scenes video that details the shows history (which ran for 9 seasons beginning in 1993) and teases about what viewers can expect to see in the future.
Watch it all unfold in the player above, but be warned that if you’re planning to watch the original series before January 24th, there are spoilers. If you’re not, then this might be a nice summary of what has already happened.
The show will continue its two-night premiere on January 25th, in its regular time slot at 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their iconic roles as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully, respectively, while the new miniseries will feature appearances by guest stars, such as Joel McHale (Community), Robbie Amell (The Flash), Lauren Ambrose (Dig, Six Feet Under), Annabeth Gish (The Bridge), Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), and William B. Davis, who brings back the iconic Cigarette Smoking Man.
