by Unless you’re in California, or want to travel, the announcement on the January 25, 2011, by the media relations guys for the Big Four Metal Festival (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax) is a big disappointment.
They will be playing the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on April 23rd only. Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 28, 2011. For those who live thousands of miles away from the Golden State, it is irritating to say the least.
Many of the non-Californian fans are thinking, just as we at Yell! Magazine are, why couldn’t they have announced a tour similar to the one they had in Europe. Although tour schedules of the individual bands might conflict, it could be done with a little coordination and foresight.
Unless you’re one of the lame-ass fuckers who paid some hefty coin to go to your local megaplex to watch the bands on a freaking screen while brooding silently and holding back fits of rage and jealousy whenever you saw the crowds in Bulgaria, for example, and are willing to do it another time (when they tell us again in the near future that the concert will be beamed to hundreds of movie theaters worldwide), you will, like most of the metal fans around North America who don’t own a Lear jet, miss out on a great metal experience.
