Alkaline Trio hit the studio this past Thursday to start recording their next album, with Bill Stevenson producing. If you remember, Stevenson came up last month on Yell! Magazine as the producer of the latest As I Lay Dying album, Awakened. Seems the Descendents drummer is all over the place and in high demand as a producer. On the idea of recording with the punk legend, frontman Matt Skiba stated,
”If someone would have told me 20 years ago that I would be making a record with Bill Stevenson, I simply wouldn’t have believed it.”
Thanks to Skiba’s vocals, Alkaline Trio is one of the more unique pop punk bands in the mainstream today, meaning that he doesn’t sound like a spoiled 16-year-old kid because he hasn’t gotten his way. Skiba also doesn’t sound like that poser faux British punk-rock singer. If Stevenson has an ounce of sense, he’ll keep it this way. As the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Back to the point, Chicago-based Alkaline Trio are in the Blasting Room Studios in Fort Collins, Colorado, recording their ninth studio album, and we can’t wait to hear the results.
