Die-hard Evil Dead fans who attended the New York Comic Con (NYCC) last week got a first look at the ultra-gory remake produced by Bruce Campbell (star of the 1981 cult classic). Sam Raimi and Diablo Cody are also onboard as screenplay writers. As much as we admire the works of both men in the Evil Dead franchise, they are aging and not completely aware of how young people talk nowadays. The expertise of Oscar-winner Cody (Juno) was picked up just for that purpose — to help bring the remake up to date a little.
Campbell, during the NYCC 2012 presentation of the Evil Dead remake, addressed the fans who have been criticizing the film online before the official release:
“Your sh*t will be just as freaked as it was in the original. We’ve got some really talented people who kicked their ass off. I know you fans were pissed. Don’t think I didn’t read about it every single day. Just wait and see the movie. I will accept all of your collective apologies. We don’t want to screw this up.”
Fede Alvarez is directing the Evil Dead remake, which is currently still in post-production, and is expected to be out on April 12, 2013. We can also promise you that the debut trailer from NYCC will be available online in the very near future.
Enjoy the fresh still from the movie, and stay tuned for more updates on Yell! Magazine.
