“You realize the most important thing in life is health”, says Georges St-Pierre, who remained immensely positive in terms of the recent injury that has kept him on the shelf in over a year. GSP returns to the Octagon in a pivotal UFC Welterweight Championship unification bout against Carlos Condit in the main event at UFC 154. Deemed as the best pound for pound fighter in the world by many of his peers, GSP has always remained humble and motivated, even if he must deal with his own critics at times.
“I’m happy to be in the Octagon, I’m not in a rush” says GSP, who has received some criticism in the latter part of his career. Not having fought since his UFC 129 win over Jake Shields, GSP finds himself back in his hometown of Montreal against arguably his toughest opponent to date in Condit.
“I used to be the rush, I want to get back to the rush” smiles GSP, who will have his hands full with a well-rounded and motivated opponent. Although there seems to be a mutual respect like no other between both fighters, GSP knows he will have to regain the same momentum he was riding on when he handily defeated the likes of BJ Penn, Thiago Alves, Dan Hardy, Josh Koscheck and Jake Shields in his last five fights.
