On March 29, 2013, Anthrax will release Anthems, an EP of cover tunes from the bands that influenced them. While the concept of an established band releasing an album of covers isn’t anything new, one from Anthrax is surely one to be heard.
Anthrax will be covering jams that include Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak” and Boston’s “Smokin'” and also AC/DC and Journey, plus Rush’s “Anthems.” Actually, “Anthems” is streaming at RollingStone.com now if you want to head on over for a listen. It’s true to form, but, you know, heavier – and better (I hate Rush).
