Back in October, Crytek released the Alpha version of the multiplayer mode from Crysis 3 to select MyCrysis and Origin users for a one-week test run. It included the “Museum” map and the “Crash Site” game mode (King of the Hill gametype). Since only a handful of gamers had a chance to test Crytek’s upcoming FPS, another round of testing is coming up next week for anyone who missed that first opportunity, and you can be damn sure it will be better.

Now, with less than a month left for testing before Crysis 3 is officially released to the public, EA has just announced great news about an open Beta version of the multiplayer mode. While this mode will be playable by everyone on all platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) on January 29, it will only be running for two weeks this time around. The Beta version is expected to include two modes (“Crash Site” and “Hunter”) on two maps, which are “Airport” and, once again, “Museum.”

It has been reported that Crysis 3 “maxes out” the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in terms of graphics. It also features the return of the Prophet from Crysis 2, but set 24 years later in a rainforest-themed take on New York. His goal is to uncover the truth behind C.E.L.L.’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes.
