An Inside Look At Black Sabbath In The Studio – 2013

Black Sabbath is awesome. Possibly one of the greatest bands to ever happen to metal. Actually, without them metal would not be what it is today. Many people will argue that Black Sabbath is the progenerator of heavy metal, and I agree. Which is why it was great news to hear that Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler had reunited in the studio after 35 years.

I’m usually the first to condemn these types of reunions, but something about this one doesn’t feel like a cash grab to me. This feels like old friends getting together for a bucket-list type of accomplishment. This feels genuine. This feels like it’s coming from the heart and not something done for the fans. It feels like an attempt to write a personal masterpiece.

Black Sabbath (2013)

As the three original members of Black Sabbath enter the studio to record 13, it should come out in June 2013, they’re joined by Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine) on drums and Rick Rubin behind the console. Rick Rubin, being a main ingredient in a success salad, is almost always an unsure thing. While the music he produces appeals to the masses, hardcore fans typically would like to see their favorite band do it their own way, without the outside influence.

At any rate, this inside look of Black Sabbath in the studio as they record 13 is an amazing clip. There’s no new music in it, and none has yet been leaked, so this studio footage will have to appease your appetite. Now go listen to some Sabbath Bloody Sabbath!
