His name may not ring a bell yet in the mainstream world of MMA like Michael Bisping or Dan Hardy, but Conor McGregor‘s history speaks for itself, and when his time comes to fight inside the Octagon on April 6th in Stockholm, Sweden, I’m sensing he will be remembered among the UFC fans. This is of course just speculation on my part since I’m not all that familiar with the 24-year-old Irishman. However, I’m already a fan of his persona after watching just one interview with him on MMA Fighting. He is funny, articulate, likes to rant about himself without a typical ego known among fighters, and is very ambitious to show the world who he is within the Zuffa owned banner.
This young Irish lad out of Dublin, Ireland already made history in Cage Warriors by becoming the first fighter to win the world title in two unified weight classes. McGregor was the former lightweight and featherweight champion. Aside from wanting to buy a car one day, McGregor’s main goal since he signed with the UFC is to be the first man from the Republic of Ireland to taste victory, and eventually bring the strap back to his home country. But before that happens, his challenge is to take out Marcus Brimage in fashion, who made a name for himself fighting in the South. Brimage currently holds a three fight winning streak in the UFC.
