The Last Of Us Single-Player Campaign: Will You Get Bang For Your Buck?

If you’re a fan of the Uncharted series, then you’re likely looking forward to Naughty Dogs’ new video game, The Last of Us. So far, I’m convinced, judging by the gameplay footage, that The Last of Us will spawn sequels in the future. Yes, I’m thinking that far ahead. The survival horror shooter is obviously very similar to Uncharted in terms of gameplay mechanics, but the story focuses on two survivors, an adult Joel (voiced by Troy Baker) and a young Ellie (voiced by Ashley Johnson), trekking across a post-apocalyptic United States.

The Last Of Us

With a demo of The Last of Us in works, the Naughty Dog community strategist, Arne Meyer, recently told EvolveEnt in an interview that the single-player campaign will span 12-16 hours of entertainment, depending on how you approach the situations in the game.

“We’re definitely looking at more than 12 hours; maybe 12 to 16 right now is what we’re looking at. It really depends on how you play. You can play a little bit slower if you try to approach situations stealthy. If you really wanna explore the environment and scavenge, that’s going to add more time too.”

Lastly, Meyer also confirmed that Naughty Dog is developing expansions for The Last of Us, but only multiplayer-focused of course, just like the Uncharted series that never received any story-based DLCs.

The Last of Us is a PlayStation exclusive, and is currently scheduled to launch on June 14, 2013.
