If there was a metal band in the ’90s proving that you could dance to metal, it was White Zombie. Like no other, White Zombie was able to deliver themes of space, horror, the occult, mix it with a lot of groove, squeeze in some industrial, add a pinch of funk, and a fuck ton of metal crunch.
But, White Zombie wasn’t always a metal band. They have their roots firmly planted in the punk genre. The album that launched them into the mainstream was 1992’s La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1, a certifiable masterpiece and their third full-length album. Three years later, the band furthered the success of their previous effort with 1995’s Astro Creep: 2000, which contained the massive hit “More Human Than Human.”
The extremely short 28-minute White Zombie full concert we’ve featured here was in support of White Zombie’s final album before it all fell apart. I still wish the band was together, but if they had stuck it out, they may have ruined everything they’d accomplished by, as Rob Zombie has said, making shitty records.
