Heavy MTL 2013 – Brutal Lineup Announced

I nearly had an orgasm when I saw the lineup for Heavy MTL 2013, the annual fest we make the the long and arduous trek for. I’m starting to lose count, but I think we’ve covered it for the last two years, and have attended it during the previous two years. So, yeah, we love this thing.

Things seem to have changed up. Traditionally, Heavy MTL is a two-day event that combines the Mayhem Festival and the Summer Slaughter festival, more or less. This year, however, it’s a three-day event, with the Summer Slaughter portion taking place at Montreal’s downtown theater venue, Metropolis. The rest, mostly from the Mayhem fest, takes place at the usual Heavy MTL location at Parc-Jean Drapeau.

Heavy MTL 2013

Blinking on our radar like an advancing armada ready to attack are Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Danzig, Children of Bodom, Machine Head, Amon Amarth, and so much more. There are tons of acts I’ve never seen before, and there are a bunch that I want to see again. So it’s ultimately a win. And once again, how can you top our friendly neighbors to the North with their French hospitality and truckloads of poutine?

Weekend passes for Heavy MTL 2013 will go on sale on Thursday, March 28th, at noon via HeavyMTL.com. The first people to buy a pass will also have the opportunity to buy a Heavy MTL Ultimate 3-Day pass that gives access to the Summer Slaughter Tour event, which will take place on Friday, August 9th. Currently the schedule hasn’t been set, but details will be revealed as the date arrives.

With all that’s going on with Heavy MTL, Summer Slaughter, Mayhem, and Hellfest, this is one hell of a metal summer.
