Autopsy has today premiered the first track from their upcoming album, The Headless Ritual. “Arch Cadaver” is exactly what you’d expect from Autopsy; it’s heavy, doomy, slow, fast, brutal, and wickedly awesome. Considering the track is premiering and being streamed on NPR’s All Songs Considered, I can only assume NPR takes this segments title seriously.
July 2 is the date to mark on your calendar if you’re impatiently waiting for the release of Autopsy’s sixth studio album. The Headless Ritual will be the second post-reunion album for the U.S. masters of brutality, and its coming via Peacevill Records. Featuring the returning quartet of Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, Danny Coralles, and Joe Trevisano, The Headless Ritual is reported to be a relentless monster of violent and brutal death metal mastery delivered in the unmistakable Autopsy style of chaotic riffing, insane solos, and doom-filled interludes, all served with the band’s unhinged brand of vocal sickness.
Said drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert,
“Expect nothing less than the monstrous brutality that Autopsy has been known to offer. Laurels will not be rested upon, trends will not be followed and mercy will not be shown. Mark your calendars for June and pick out a coffin to lie down and die in. Darkness and death await…”
