Legendary Doom metallers, Pentagram, have a documentary. Officially, Last Days Here “follows Bobby Liebling as he battles decades of hard drug addiction and personal demons to try and get his life back.” The film is airing on Showtime, and the next showing is on June 2nd. Check with Showtime for all showings.
I think the idea of the documentary is great, and I agree with Philip Anselmo that people should know who Pentagram is, but Last Days Here is far less a cause for celebration than it is for remorse or for caution.
In addition to being shown on Showtime, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Winchester, Virginia, will be screening “Last Days Here” followed by a Q+A from the film’s co-protagonist and band manager, Pellet, on June 20th. Thirty beers will be on tap from around the world including locals from Devil’s Backbone, Lost Rhino, Three Brothers, and more! Pentagram released their current album Last Rites on Metal Blade Records April 14, 2011 and their first ever, official DVD (also out on Metal Blade), When the Screams Come, on August 30, 2011. Both releases were met by rave reviews from fans and critics alike and saw the band playing sets at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, as well as tours across the U.S. and dates in Europe.
Recently, after months of searching and reviewing literally hundreds of applicants from around the world, Pentagram announced the addition of their new guitarist Matt Goldborough. His debut with the “Ram Family,” rounded out by Bobby Liebling on vocals, Greg Turley on bass guitar, and Sean Saley on drums, was on April 16, 2013, at the sold out show at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, New York. If that gig wasn’t special enough, the band performed songs not heard live in over 40 years! Inspired by a demand from the fans, Liebling and company pulled out rare gems, including “Be Forewarned.” Check out this track and more below:
