Due to another injury for the UFC 161 card, it’s reported that Antônio Rogério Nogueira has been forced to pull out of his bout with Maurício “Shogun” Rua on June 15, 2013, at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.
“Lil Nog” has had a number of injuries throughout his years in pro MMA, so this hit doesn’t come as a surprise. According to Nogueira, he felt back pain preparing for the fight in training last Monday. Even though the injury isn’t serious, Nogueira felt it was enough to call the UFC bosses to break the bad news.
Luckily, “The Amercian Gangster” is here to save the day, and already issued a challenge to “Shogun” with some pretty words via Twitter.
@ShogunRua I HEAR BRAZILIAN
CHICKEN IS OFF THE MENU. AMERICAN GANGSTER IS STILL AVAILABLE IF YOU WANT TO SEND YOUR WAITRESS OVER.— Chael Sonnen (@sonnench) June 3, 2013
We don’t know for sure if “Shogun” will accept, but it doesn’t look like he’s got many options on such short notice.
