MMA: BJJ Black Belt Ururahy Rodrigues Captures Murder Suspect Moments After Crime [VIDEO]

UPDATE: 22-year-old Raphael Rucker of Atlanta was arrested Thursday. He was aprehended about 55 miles from the scene, near Stone Mountain. The two remaining suspects are still at large.

It’s a shocking story that took place in Villa Rica, Georgia, that left one innocent man dead and another captured moments after a robbery. Ururahy Rodrigues — a seasoned MMA fighter who holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, fought once in Bellator, and runs a gym — doesn’t want to be called a “hero” after his actions on Wednesday.

Story short, four men broke into The Mobley Company Jewelers, Inc. with a sledge hammer to collect a stash of valuable goods. They were confronted by the store owner, Mitch Mobley, who was allegedly gunned down by 16-year-old Eric Billings during the violent ordeal. The suspects ran in a panic. Fortuntely, Rodrigues’ gym is next door and he was able to heroically chase and capture Billings, placing him in a choke hold until police arrived to the scene.

Billings is currently in custody and charged as an adult for alleged murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm. He could face the death penalty according to Magistrate Court Judge Alton Johnson. The three others are still on the run.

Rodrigues captured part of the crime with his cellphone and only hopes it will help identify the suspects and bring them into custody as soon as possible.
