Guillermo del Toro is a busy man, and so is the Frankenstein monster. As we mentioned in an earlier article, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein entered the public domain a couple of years ago, which I’m assuming means that we’re going to have heaping portions of Frankenstein movies shoved down our throats in the next few years.

There is one Frankenstein film on the horizon, however, that holds huge potential at the box office. Del Toro’s Frankenstein is still very much dragging its heavy boots inside the director’s head, but the latest bit of news being reported is that del Toro wants Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness) to play the reanimated monster. Del Toro’s Frankenstein is currently with Universal, which means he would have the rights to use the classic Universal’s Monsters likeness — and that is the shit.

Del Toro’s Frankstein project is still in development, but we’ll keep you posted on future news bits.
