Another “Day Of The Dead” Remake In Progress With Big Budget

“Day Of The Dead” Remake

Yes, a remake of Day of the Dead was already dished out in 2008 by Steve Miner, which kind of went under the radar in my opinion and got poor reviews from critics. However, since World War Z, starring Brad Pitt hit success on its opening weekend this year, it’s no doubt that folks in the film industry are eyeing a remake of George A. Romero’s zombie classic Day of the Dead. Even if it has already been done. Taking World War Z as example, a film like this with a bigger budget can, in fact, go a long way, and it looks like Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell believe they can pull it off with Romero’s version.

“We want to keep it as close to the Romero version as possible to make sure that his fans are happy. These are not going to be zombies climbing walls and doing back flips like in World War Z.”

The duo have previously been producers on Texas Chainsaw, and have announced that they’re teaming up with Millennium Films for a Day of the Dead remake. The budget is expected to be between $10 and $20 million with plans to have the film out in theaters next year.

From the sound of things, both partners want to deliver a true Romero version to horror fans with slow walking zombies. Who knows, maybe Tom Savini will be involved for the makeup effects. But I’m jumping ahead here since screenwriters are being hunted for the film at the moment.
