Surprise, surprise! Another Frankenstein movie is in the works from Fox. This time it’s to be directed by Paul McGuigan and will star Daniel Radcliffe as Igor. According to screenplay writer Max Landis, the new Frankenstein movie will be different from the classic horror tale that isn’t going out of style nowadays, and will be told from Igor’s perspective.
“I began to pick apart our knowledge of Frankenstein and discovered that the public’s idea of this myth comes from a million different places” he told ShockTillYouDrop.com. “I became committed to recontextualizing it all so it all worked in one story. By the end of the day, it’s a period piece and, yes, it’s from Igor’s perspective, but man it’s cool. It’s the best thing I’ve written.”
Now Fox is eyeing it and in talks with Hollywood star James McAvoy (Trance, Wanted) to play opposite Radcliffe as the obsessive scientist “Victor von Frankenstein”, which should resonate with Hammer fans because it was the name given to Peter Cushing’s version of the infamous character. Deadline reported, the “dealmaking is underway,” but from other sources it sounds like it’s safe to say that Fox has found its glorious Frankenstein.
The production for the movie is expected to start in the Fall with a release date slated for October 17, 2014. More casting news should come in the upcoming weeks.
