Its already been three months since the Poltergeist remake was given the green light to start production from MGM and Fox 2000 Pictures. They announced that filming is expected to start at the end of the year, and it now sounds like most of the principle cast members are secured for the remake, which will be directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House) from a script by David Lindsay-Abaire.
Rosemarie DeWitt (The Watch) was the first name circulating from the rumor bag to play the lead female role in the film, previously played by JoBeth Williams in the 1982 classic, and Sam Rockwell (The Green Mile, Iron Man 2) are now both confirmed to play the parents. As to who will play one of the children, Variety broke news that The Following’s Kyle Catlett (pictured above) will boost his acting gig in Poltergeist, and will play one of the Bowen children.
Lastly, Jared Harris also seems to be attached and is to play Carrigan, a “larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show Haunted House Cleaners“, according to Deadline.
We’ll announce more news on the remake of Poltergeist for our readers when they become available. Stay tuned!
