Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2 begins next week on September 26th via Machinima, however, we’ve got a new update from series creator Kevin Tancharoen on the progress of the upcoming movie reboot he will direct:
We’re still pushing through on that. The script is in a good place, we’re just kind of figuring out the budget and locations and that whole process is where we’re at.
In addition, Tancharoen also revealed that the new MK movie will be a fresh start when asked if it will be a continuity of the Legacy series:
I think everyone’s intention is to start fresh because we want Legacy to live on its own, possibly for multiple seasons, and when it comes to Mortal Kombat, it’s been around for 20-plus years. We’re going to take the mythology and add another layer on it so it can live on for another 20 years or more! I think this is a unique opportunity to set that ground work.
Previously, Warner Bros. executive Lance Sloan confirmed that the movie will have a budget of between $40 and $50 million, which is $50 million less than the initially anticipated budget.
We’ll keep you in the know when further details about the movie are revealed. Stay tuned on Yell! Magazine.
