This isn’t exactly what we had in mind when we reported on Maynard James Keenan’s statement earlier this month: “Music is happening on ALL fronts.” One would expect more new music than just one new track on a greatest hits album. But that’s just what Keenan has done with the new album, Three Sixty, from A Perfect Circle. The album is due on November 19th and the new track is called “By and Down,” which was written after the band returned from their 10-year hiatus to perform a string of live dates.
Maybe Three Sixty is a “turning point” for A Perfect Circle, a chance for Keenan and Howerdel to reconnect over nostalgic tracks while preparing for a full-fledged album. Or maybe, Keenan and Howerdel are closing the circle of this band while it remains perfect. Speculation aside, here’s how Keenan explains the album:
Billy [Howerdel (Ashes Divide)] and I created A Perfect Circle out of a now long-running friendship, and I think the music we have made reflects that personal connection and has given us the ability to further develop and trust our intuition. I feel Three Sixty is an accurate representation of that friendship and those instincts.
A Perfect Circle also recently announced the release of a limited-edition box set titled A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone And Echo. The collection, which focuses on the band’s live outings from 2010-2011 includes a full-length DVD of the outfit’s August 2011 Red Rock’s concert (with accompanying audio), as well as a 3-CD collection of live releases, one dedicated to each of the three studio albums from the band’s discography. The collection will be available on November 26th.
