For those of you who thought the remake of Evil Dead directed by Fede Alvarez was pretty awesome and thought that he did a fantastic job helming it will be glad to hear that Alvarez is in talks for an upcoming movie. According to various reports, the Uruguayan director is being considered to direct a live-action adaptation of EA’s 2010 action game, Dante’s Inferno. Personally, I’m a little shocked to hear because I thought his plan was to direct an ultra-violent sci-fi film like RoboCop or Total Recall since he’s a huge fan of Paul Verhoeven.
At the moment nothing is set in stone, but Dante’s Inferno will be produced by former Strike Entertainment partners Eric Newman and Marc Abraham with EA Entertainment vice president Patrick O’Brien. If Alvarez gets his hands on the gig, he’s expected to direct the film from a script penned by Jay Basu (The Dinosaur Project, Fast Girl)
No official word yet on when Dante’s Inferno would go into production, but we’ll keep our readers in the know once those details are announced.
