Less than a few days, Brazilian mixed martial artist and former UFC welterweight contender Rousimar Palhares (15–5) was officially released from the UFC for his controversial submission win over Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 29.
According to our previous reports, Palhares failed to release a heel hook after two seconds the referee stopped the fight. Afterwards, during the post-fight presser for UFN 29, Palhares was denied a Submission of the Night bonus and within a 24 hour period was released by UFC President Dana White for repeated incidents involving unsportsmanlike conduct.
Former UFC and STRIKEFORCE contender Paul Daley was the last fighter that we know of that was released from the UFC for a similar case, and will never step foot inside the Octagon again. Although, his case isn’t as severe as Daley’s, Palhares is asking for forgiveness with hopes to fight again in the Zuffa owned organization.
We’ll see in the next few days if White listened and gives the Brazilian another chance.
