A few days ago, Ubisoft released an official statement directly from the development teams announcing that the highly anticipated adventure stealth game, Watch Dogs, will be delayed for a few months after the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A new date isn’t set for Watch Dogs yet, but Ubisoft is aiming for spring 2014. I’m betting my money on March since it’s usually a good month to put out a new game on the market.
Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.
Now, for those of you who pre-ordered a PS4 bundle with Watch Dogs through Amazon can expect the next-gen system to be shipped on schedule without the game. Further details from Amazon will be announced shortly. However, If you ordered the bundle through GameStop, the retailer confirmed the same, but will ship the game seperately once it becomes available. You can also contact them for more options.
With the news that Ubisoft has delayed the release of the highly anticipated title Watch Dogs until next year, GameStop is contacting customers who had reserved PlayStation 4 and Xbox One bundles featuring the game. Customers can elect to keep their current bundle orders and their consoles will ship as scheduled with the game shipping separately once it is available or customers can choose another bundle to replace their current order. Customers should also note that there may be a difference in the price if selecting another bundle and that all reserved orders will be charged upon shipment.
It’s a drag and we know it, but Ubisoft is currently experiencing development issues since The Crew will also be delayed until April 1, 2014, earliest.
