31 Days of Scares – Day 19 – 5 Amazing Animated Horror Poster GIFs

Alright, I’m going to confess something here. I have a weird obsession looking at animated GIFs on Tumblr these days. No, it isn’t any “pr0n.” It’s horror related shit. Horror stuff that you should find interesting since you happen to occasionally land on Yell! Magazine.

You must be thinking that I have way too much bloody time on my hands if I’m looking up cool, useless GIFs, and I admit, I do sometimes have some extra time on my hands. So, I figured that it’s time to share with our readers a small list showcasing the best ones I’ve come across. However, since this is for our 31 Days of Scares special feature, I restricted my list to one main criteria, which made things slightly more difficult. All of them have to be animated horror GIFs inspired by actual movie posters, or at least close enough to resemble one.

If you like this small selection of horror GIFs, then feel free to share it with your friends and hit the “like” button on this page.

No.5 The Final Destination

This supernatural horror film was the fourth installment, and first in the Final Destination franchise shot entirely in HD 3-D. The theatrical poster also received a 3-D treatment. This is how it turned. Pretty effective and creepy!

No.4 The Hills Have Eyes (2006)

Alexandre Aja is an awesome French director. His first American horror film was the remake of Wes Craven’s cult classic, The Hills Have Eyes. It still remains one my favorites from the director, after Haute Tension. This is how the animated horror GIF poster looks like with a clip from the film.

No.3 Saw 3D: The Final Chapter (2010)

Thanks to Australian director James Wan, the SAW franchise became an instant hit with horror fans around the world. After numerous sequels, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter was the seventh and final installment, and the only one shot in 3-D. Like The Final Destination, but obliterating it visually, the theatrical poster also received a similar horror GIF treatment. Unfortunately, the film sucked!

No.2 The Shining (1980)

No 3-D treatment here, but a nice neon poster for Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, arguably the most influential horror film of all time. Although, not based on any original poster for the film, someone managed to replicate the horrific murder scene of the Grady twins. Personally, I think this horror GIF screams REDRUM!

No.1 Carrie (2013)

A remake I think most of us are looking forward to seeing, despite the already negative reception from critics. Carrie‘s unfavorable reception is usually the case for most remakes these days because there is so much expectation for them to be different. However, the new Carrie apparently has a few interesting updates, so it still may be worthwhile to check this one out in theaters. Fans of the classic might want to avoid this one, if you don’t want to be disappointed.

As for the animated horror GIF poster, it isn’t an actually poster, but I like it. Do you feel it burning?
