It’s true, according to a report on Blabbermouth.net, the titans of metal are scheduled to perform in Antarctica, the world’s southernmost continent. Blabbermouth picked this bit of news up from a Colombian Coca-Cola Zero website.
So, if you’re way down south sometime between December 2nd and December 15th, you might as well check out Metallica as the play a frozen landscape.
As strange as this sounds, Metallica won’t be the first band to play Antarctica. In 2007, a science team formed an indie rock band, Nunatak, and played for a total of 17 people at the British Antarctic Survey’s (BAS) Rothera Research Station. So who will Metallica be performing for? Considering that this appears to be a Coca-Cola sponsored event, a good guess is that the show will be for a group of company employees who make an annual trek to Antarctica to nurture leadership and team building.
Leave it to Metallica to find something bizarre to do.
