Microsoft successfully launched the Xbox One on Friday. In a 24-hour period the next-gen console sold over 1 million units across 13 countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and New Zealand.
Although, the million milestone is great, the number is weaker than the launch of Sony’s new console since the PlayStation 4 was only released in the U.S. and Canada. The PS4 garnered over 1 million sales in 24 hours after launching over a week ago. Despite taking second place to Sony, Microsoft is humbled by the amount of sales it reached, and has also released a few other impressive statistics that show Xbox fans spending a lot of time with their new system.
Microsoft listed the following stats:
– Over 60 million zombies have been killed in Dead Rising 3
– Over 3.6 million miles driven in Forza Motorsport 5
– Over 7.1 million combos in Killer Instinct
– Over 8.5 million enemies defeated in Ryse: Son of Rome
– Over 43.3 million Fit Points earned in Xbox Fitness
Less than 1% of Xbox One buyers are currently experiencing problems with the system’s optical drive and connecting online. I’m sure Microsoft will take care of the issues quickly, like Sony will with the PS4, which is also experiencing faulty hardware like the blue light of death.
The Xbox One currently sells for $499.
