As we reported earlier, less than 1% of the Xbox One‘s sold within the first 24 hours is having software and hardware issues. One of the more serious problems is with the optical disc drive on the Xbox One that makes a grinding noise. Fortunately, Microsoft is acting fast to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, some buyers with hardware issues will have no choice but to replace the system through Microsoft’s “advance exchange program.” On the bright side, this means Microsoft will send a brand new Xbox One before you ship your broken one back to them. That’s what I call convenient.
Microsoft said:
The issue is affecting a very small number of Xbox One customers. We’re working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers.
Customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running.
If you’re one of the few having problems with the Xbox One, Microsoft recommends following the steps right below:
– Talk to a live customer support person that can call you back if you don’t want to wait
– Visit Xbox.com for support pages and forums
– Communicate on Twitter with @XboxSupport
– Use Help and Diagnostics on the console by saying “Xbox Help”
