I have this classic 1993 horror anthology from John Carpenter on VHS! That’s some old-school love right there.
Body Bags features three segments, “The Gas Station,” “Hair,” and “Eye,” the first two of which were directed by John Carpenter and the third by Tobe Hooper. Written by Billy Brown and Dan Angel, Body Bags features appearances by Robert Carradine, Stacy Keach, Mark Hamill, Alex Datcher, David Warner, Deborah Harry, Twiggy, and John Carpenter. There are also cameos from such industry giants as Wes Craven, Sam Raimi, Roger Corman, and Greg Nicotero.
If you know someone who loves the anthology format, a format that is currently having a renaissance of sorts, or if you love it yourself, Body Bags on Blu-ray will make a great stocking stuffer. I know I’d love it (hint, hint to anyone listening). Interestingly, in the hay days of anthology horror, Body Bags was a test project from Showtime to see if there was viability for an ongoing series. Unfortunately, the Body Bags series never came to fruition because of budget and location issues. Nonetheless, we’ve been blessed with this standalone movie complete with John Carpenter playing the tie-in character, The Coroner.
