The TV adaptation of Rosemary’s Baby was green lit a month ago, and today we’re happy to announce the interesting choice for lead actress. Zoe Saldana, star of Avatar and the Star Trek reboot, will play the lead as Rosemary in the four-hour NBC miniseries. Quite a different lady than the waifish Mia Farrow who played Rosemary in the 1968 film.
Quinn Taylor, NBC Entertainment’s Executive Vice President, Movies, Miniseries and International Co-Productions, said:
Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin’s infamous novel. With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event miniseries is off to a great start.
Saldana will do more than just play Rosemary, though; she will also fill the role of executive producer on the Scott Abbott and James Wong penned miniseries.
