It was just announced that UFC 172: Jon “Bones” Jones vs. Glover Teixeira will be a pay-per-view (PPV) event held in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 26, 2014. The UFC debut in Baltimore, which is expected to be among MMA’s biggest PPV events in the first half of 2014, will no doubt benefit from the main card bout between Jones (19-1-0) and Teixeira (22-2-0), in which they will fight for the light heavyweight championship title.
Tickets for UFC 172 will go on sale February 7th.
Now that Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva are out of the sport, temporarily, Jones has been thrust into the spotlight and much of the weight of the UFC is resting on his shoulders. As a top contender, the match up between Jones and Teixeira, who’s coming from a 20-fight win streak, should be a major draw.
