Rainn Wilson, David Morse, Mike Vogel, Zuleikha Robinson, and Bill Sage have signed on to star in The Boy. The film is the newest feature under Elijah Wood’s horror production company, SpectreVision.
According to Deadline, The Boy will be a trilogy of films chronicling a serial killer‘s childhood. The first film will show Ted Henley, the serial killer, at age 9 (played by Jared Breeze), the second film at age 14, and the final film at age 18.
In a bit of a horror movie cliche, Ted lives with his motel-owner father John Henley (David Morse), and William Colby (Rainn Wilson) is the man who intrigues and charms young Ted. And, of course, there’s a young family and a sheriff in the first installation of The Boy.
The Boy is based on the short film Henley, which competed at the Sundance Film Festival, 2012. Craig MacNeill will direct from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Clay McLeod Chapman, author of the novel Miss Corpus. The characters for The Boy are based on the characters in Chapman’s book. SpectreVision’s Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, and Josh C. Waller will produce the film in partnership with Chiller Films.
Principal photography got underway last week in Colombia.
