by First, Heavy MTL has changed its name to Heavy Montreal. Second, rumors are indicating that Metallica will be headlining the annual event in 2014. We’ll find out for sure on March 3rd, at 6 p.m. EST, when the first lineup announcement will be made.
It’s not entirely unreasonable to think that Metallica would headline Heavy Montreal as the annual event has hosted some of the biggest names in metal, such as Megadeth, KISS, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold (well, they’re big), Rob Zombie, and many more. Hopefully, since this is our tent-pole event, we’ll get to see Metallica play some new material. It’s unlikely that they’ll have a new album by the time of the fest. Based on comments Lars Ulrich (Metallica drummer) previously made to Metal Hammer, I predicted that we’d see a new Metallica album sometime in 2015, and I’m going to stick to that.
Heavy Montreal will be held August 8-10, 2014.
