The Last of Us is arguably the greatest game ever made, in my opinion. From gameplay to story telling and captivating character interactions, Naughty Dog simply nailed all those elements and more in this great survival horror game, which other developers still fail to achieve in this day and age. The Last of Us won numerous awards, including “Game of the Year” and is the second-largest video game launch of 2013 after Grand Theft Auto V.
So, I’m really not surprised a movie is moving forward with a big name already attached to the project. According to sources, famed director, producer and writer Sam Raimi is attached creatively along with Christophe Balestra, Bruce Straley and Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells. The man who wrote the original story, Neil Druckmann, will also pen the script for the film and Screen Gems is on board to distribute it.
There is no official word yet on who will play the lead characters, but Ellen Page would seem like a perfect fit for Eli, who she believe’s Naughty Dog ripped off her likeness. For Joel, I would go with Hugh Jackman, but I’ll just leave it up to the filmmakers to officially make those calls.
