From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series – What To Expect?

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series

In two days, Robert Rodriguez will unleash his holy new vampire series on El Rey Network that expands on the mythology from his 1996 film, From Dusk Till Dawn. Since it drops fairly soon, fans may want to continue reading to get more bloody scoop on the highly anticipated show that is based on the original film that pretty much kicked started George Clooney’s career from TV.

According to an interview with Rodriguez, the series will build upon cool ideas surrounding the Aztec cultures and mythologies, including a blood cult that worships snakes that Rodriguez found during his days of research on the original film. Unused material written by Quentin Tarantino that never made it into the film will also trickle into the show. So, expect new characters, new trajectories and storylines for the original characters, and really dig into the mythology with the Santanico cult that could further develop in more seasons to come.

What to expect from the blood suckers themselves? Rodriguez said,

They will be nasty customers, but it’s a lot different than you expect. You know, we got to really dive into the mythology that we’re creating here and have some unique differences to what was there before. I think it’s much more cohesive.

In addition, he talked about working with Greg Nicotero again, and the quality differences in makeup effects is jaw dropping compared to the first film.

For the makeups, KNB and Greg Nicotero, who do the Walking Dead, they worked with me on Dusk Till Dawn. That was the first time we worked together and they’ve worked on all my movies. But post Walking Dead, the technology is just different than in the old days even the makeup effects level. Their work is just stellar and there really is a huge difference between the first film.

There’s a quality difference in the makeup and it is freaky to shoot. I was really captivated and I was the one holding the camera, but it felt more like I was documenting the stuff. I think people will be really thrilled by the advances.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series premieres on Tuesday, March 11th, so make sure you tune in this week.
