“It’s a white-knuckled suicide leap into a chum bucket filled with the sex, gore, and fist-pumping action that’ll have you screaming.” This is the tagline for the El Rey Network, which yes, is headed by the legendary Robert Rodriguez. For those of you who don’t know, tonight at 9 p.m. EST/PST, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series will be making its television debut. That’s right, there’s now actually a fucking show for the cult classic From Dusk Till Dawn.

If you have not seen the movie, then you haven’t lived. It is a necessary film to watch, and if you haven’t seen it, then you probably don’t know why this series is going to kick total vampire ass. There are several reasons why this series will be awesome, and below I’ve listed five of them, omitting the obvious one — that From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series will make vampires badass again. Have a gander and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

No.5 George Clooney Isn’t in the Series

Everyone has his or her own personal opinion regarding George Clooney. Some say he’s the ultimate ladies’ man, a man all men should strive to be like. Others say he’s a douchebag. We’re of the latter ilk. Sure, he was fine in a couple projects, such as From Dusk Till Dawn, Ocean’s 11, and on Roseanne, but for the most part he’s stale and boring to watch. Plus he’s got a big head and comes off as super pretentious. Who needs that? Certainly not this show.

No.4 It Follows Its Source to a “T”

For those of you who have seen the trailers, you’ll recognize a lot of key scenes that relate to the movie itself. From the bank robbery to the Benny’s World of Liquor to the kidnapping of the family, and more. In the player above is one of the trailers that depicts exactly what I’m talking about.

No.3 The Gecko Brothers’ Badassery Is Intact

Richie Gecko (Zane Holtz), originally played by Quentin Tarantino, is the sex addicted, murderous brother who always seems to hinder the mission. But he gives that extra edge in the plot. Seth Gecko (D.J. Cotrona), originally played by George Clooney, is the older and smarter of the two brothers. He’s basically the decision maker and always has to keep Richie inline. If you remember in the film, he is the brother who survives.

No.2 Hot Latin Women

Who remembers Salma Hayek in the original movie? If you don’t, please smack yourself in the head. Once you’ve done that, got find the movie and watch it again. Salma Hayek played the devilish beauty, Santanico Pandemonium. You know what? Screw it, we’re just going to include the scene in the player just below this entry. She ultimately kills Richie Gecko in the film. Well in this series, we have the hot, real hot, damn hot, Eiza Gonzaléz. So, yes, there will be sexy women in here because that is mandatory.

No.1 Robert Rodriguez Is Directing

Finally, a series that is actually directed by its original creator. Rodriguez has been behind several hit classics such as the Grindhouse movies, Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and, of course, From Dusk Till Dawn. And even better, as mentioned up above, Rodriguez has his own television network, the El Rey Network. El Rey is actually the city that the Gecko Brothers are trying to get to in Mexico, for those of you who are curious. It was the city mentioned in the film as well.

Some bonus “name drops” are the Big Kahuna Burger, mentioned in Pulp Fiction. You’ll even see some recognizable actors such as Don Johnson and Jake Busey. Don Johnson plays Earl McGraw, who is in hot pursuit of the Gecko Brothers and ultimately killed at Benny’s World of Liquor.

Something tells me that there will be a nice twist in this series, and I encourage you to watch it tonight if you get the chance.
