New Assassin’s Creed Could Be Set During The French Revolution

Assassin's Creed 2014

According to an image that Kotaku received today from an anonymous source, the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed series could be set in 18th century Paris during the French Revolution and feature an all new protagonist named Arno. Take a quick peek at the first leaked screenshot above and you will quickly spot the facade of Notre-Dame and the Seine river.

The new setting in France is kind of surprising since Ubisoft said that the most common setting requested by fans of the series are World War II, feudal Japan, and Ancient Egypt. I guess they didn’t really consider any of them for the new sequel, unless they plan to switch up the settings on the different gaming platforms? The reason I’m wondering is because the Paris setting could be exclusive to only next-gen consoles such as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, based on previous reports. Wouldn’t that be interesting? I could see fan girls crying over which console deserves what setting. So sad, but you know it’s true!

Anyhow, the new Assassin’s Creed is currently titled Unity, and it’s expected to drop this fall.
