According to BloodyDisgusting, Franck Khalfoun is currently in negotiations to direct the house-possession flick. The last we heard Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands were to direct the new Amityville movie. However, a change in director isn’t the only thing new about this franchise reboot, since the title has also been changed from The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes to simply Amityville. One thing has remained the same, and that is that Amityville will be shot in the found-footage style.
While still unconfirmed, BD has been told that the new movie is in pre-production and casting is underway. Amityville is also scheduled for a January 2, 2015, release.
Whatever your take is on a franchise reboot or a found-footage style film, the new Amityville is certainly in capable hands if Khalfoun ends up directing. Who can forget P2, the Maniac remake, or High Tension?
We’ll keep you posted as more Amityville news emerges.
