Shane Gibson, former touring guitarist for Korn, died at 5:45 a.m. on April 15, 2014, at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. The cause of death was complications from a blood clotting disorder.

Gibson played with Korn from 2007 to 2010, and even filled in on lead guitar for Munky in 2008. After Korn, Gibson played with SchwarZenatoR, StOrk, and with Jonathan Davis’ solo project, among others.

On Facebook, stOrk has posted the following comments:

It is with deepest sadness and regret that we must confirm that stOrk founding member and lead guitarist Shane Paul Gibson passed away at 5:45 AM on April 15th, 2014 in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama as a result of complications from a blood clotting disorder. He was 35 years old. He was one of the best guitar players the world has ever known and his virtuosity was matched only by his wit and generosity of spirit. He will be missed beyond measure.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those who loved him as much as we did.

Also on Facebook, is this statement from SchwarZenatoR:

I’ve been putting this off, but our friend and founding SchwarZenatoR member Shane Gibson passed away this morning. We feel honored that we got to share the time we had with him and that we could make such amazingly silly music together. It was always effortless with him and always fun! We will always miss him! I feel honored to carry on the SchwarZenatoR name. I feel like that’s what he would’ve wanted and we will always honor the guitar player, the bro, and more than anything, our friend, Shane Gibson. Here’s one of the last things we did together.
