The word about a new Friday the 13th TV series is multiplying faster than Jason Voorhees‘ kill counts by now. At this rate, every major horror outlet is talking about it, and it would totally blow if we missed out on the fun too. So, it’s true! The iconic masked villain that made his career raising eyebrows in the ’80s will be slashing it up on the small screen for the first time since he killed his first victim.
Bloody Disgusting, Deadline, and Dread Central have all announced the bloody news, and according to them there is also detail about the story. It appears that Bill Basso (Terminator) and Jordu Schell (Avatar) will pen the script that “re-imagines Jason in multiple time periods.” Pretty sick considering the first Friday The 13th TV Series never even featured Jason, nor were any of the characters connected to the films. This time the show is going in a new direction and will be set in the town of Crystal Lake, said Horror Inc. president Robert Barsamian:
Expect the show to take viewers in some exciting new directions that we’re confident will not only excite existing fans of Friday the 13th but also attract new audiences to the situations and characters that inhabit the small town of Crystal Lake.
The new hourlong Friday the 13th TV Series was conceived by Daniel Farrands and Geoff Garrett with Sean S. Cunningham returning as executive producer.
