This looks so incredibly captivating. And the timing couldn’t be more perfect, with the Christopher Nolan series buried, Ben Affleck becoming The Caped Crusader, and the battle between the Marvel and DC worlds reaching a boiling point.
Gotham, having just completed filming and developing the pilot episode, has today been given the order to proceed with production from FOX. Today’s announcement has also been accompanied by the first official trailer for the Gotham series.
Now, I loved Smallville (for the most part; it had some god-awful seasons), but to the benefit of Gotham, the new Batman tale won’t focus on a young Bruce Wayne as he comes into his own. We can all see from the trailer that Wayne’s story is a factor, but the protagonist of the new FOX series is Officer James Gordon, who does promise Bruce that he will catch the guys who killed his parents.
The trailer also introduces us to a host of villains from the Batman universe, including Penguin, Cat Woman, Riddler, and Poison Ivy.
Variety has reported that:
Ben McKenzie plays Gordon in the series, which previously had a series commitment at the network. The cast also includes Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Mazouz, Robin Lord Taylor, Camren Bicondova, Erin Richards, Sean Pertwee, Zabryna Guevara and Cory Michael Smith.
As soon as there are more details to report, such as the air date, we’ll be sure to let you all know.
What do you think of the concept of Gotham? Is it something that you plan to watch?
