If you’re down for some Folk Metal with a whole lot of Power Metal flavor, then you’re ready for some new music from Swedish Folk Metal pioneers Falconer. Today they’re streaming their new song, “Halls and Chambers,” over at Metal Hammer Germany. The track is from their upcoming eigth studio album, Black Moon Rising, which has a June 6th street date in Europe and June 9th/10th in the UK and North America.
Not being a huge fan of the genre, I have to say that the opening riffs are completely compelling and the break down in the last quarter has a killer groove and relaxing tone. Also, Mathias Blad’s vocals are almost a spiritual experience.
Falconer returned to the studio with producer/guitarist Andy LaRocque, but the new album almost never happened according to Falconer guitarist and songwriter Stefan Weinerhall:
After an 8 month complete break from music on the verge of quitting it, I finally returned with a feeling of hunger, power and commitment to the song writing. The goal we all had was to wake up, stir things up a bit and perform at our very best. And so we all did!
According to the press release, Back Moon Rising “is a lot more guitar-oriented than the band’s most recent efforts: it’s riff-filled and the fastest album in the history of the band. This Falconer sounds more hungry and more vital than they have in many years.”
