There’s a very good chance that Juno Mak’s Rigor Mortis will be the 2014 foreign horror film that everyone talks about. One look at the trailer (above) and it’s as plain as day why this will be a hit, and why it has been a festival favorite.
Juno Mak, the Chinese pop star turned actor (Revenge: A Love Story), makes his directorial debut with Rigor Mortis, and along for the ride in the producer’s chair is horror giant Takashi Shimizu (Ju-on: The Grudge). The film looks mind-blowing, but there are definitely elements we’ve seen elsewhere before.
Rigor Mortis comes to Blu-ray, DVD, and digital formats on July 8th, via Well Go USA Entertainment.
Rigor Mortis Synopsis:
A feast for genre fans, the film follows a depressed actor (Chin Siu-ho) who moves into an even more depressing apartment complex and attempts suicide, only to be rescued by Uncle Yau (Anthony Chan). Unfortunately, the suicidal actor has imbued the dark spirits who haunt the apartment with strength. And to add to their worries, one of the building’s residents has brought a man back from the dead … and he’s about to wake up.
