It was revealed earlier today that Chael Sonnen, also known as “The American Gangster,” has failed the same random drug test that Wanderlei Silva refused to take for UFC 175. According to ESPN and MMA Fighting, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) asked Sonnen to take a drug test, who complied. However, the results came back negative. Apparently, two illegal substances were discovered: Anastrozole and Clomiphene. Both of these substances are forms of anti-estrogen treatments.
Sonnen has been removed from UFC 175, and is expected to officially address the issue at 6:00 p.m. sharp on FOX Sports 1:
UFC officials acknowledge irregularities in a recent random test. Chael is planning on addressing the matter this afternoon.
