Cannibal Corpse have announced the impending release of their 13th album, and unlike many of their heavy metal peers they haven’t named it 13. Thank the demigods we pray to.
The new Cannibal Corpse album is called A Skeletal Domain and will include 12 brutal tracks, some of which are promised to be totally unique and to go beyond anything Corpse has done before, according to bassist Alex Webster:
Consistency is often confused with repetition. We are established with what we do as a band, and we could relax and not push ourselves, but we try to push the envelope. That’s what makes this exciting.
And producer Mark Lewis confirms:
Anyone who really listens to this album with an open mind will hear that it’s not same-old same-old. There are moments on this record that have never happened in musical history.
As you’ve probably just figured, Cannibal Corpse have stepped away from their previous producer, Erik Rutan, who produced the American death dealers’ previous three efforts (Kill, Evisceration Plague, Torture). This time around opting for the talents of Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver) at Audio Hammer Studios.
Despite the professional changes, and the promise of something a little different, Webster says that:
At the end of the day, we’re still making a death metal record, no matter where it’s being recorded.

Leading up to the release of A Skeletal Domain, Cannibal Corpse will headline the Coldcock Herbal Whiskey Stage on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which features such heavyweights as Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Trivium, and more. Throughout the festival run, Cannibal Corpse will be doing daily signings at 3:00 p.m. at their merch booth, where Mayhem attendees can pre-order A Skeletal Domain.
